Islamabad:
The Office of the Registry of the Superior Court of the capital has declared that this year it is not possible to list the appeals presented by former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi against his conviction in the case of £ 190 million due to a portfolio of pending appeals.
The registrar’s office has submitted a written report to a division bank led by the president of the IHC Supreme Court, Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz, Dogar and Judge Muhammad Asif, who heard a request presented by the PTI for the early list of the appeals.
The report indicated that, in compliance with a decision made by the National Judicial Committee (policy formulation) (NJPMC) at its 51st meeting held on December 9, 2022, the IHC formulated a “fixation policy” on February 6, 2024 for early elimination of pending cases before.
In its proposals, the Committee had asked the higher courts to accelerate the award of appeals of convicts and prisoners condemned unconfirmed pending for more than two years.
He said that special banks could be appointed to accelerate the award of approved appeals of convicts and prisoners unconfirmed not confirmed pending for more than five years in two months.
According to the report, 279 appeals have been pending before IHC. These include 63 appeals against capital punishment; 73 Appeals against life imprisonment; 88 Appeals against sentences of more than 7 years and 55 appeals against punishments that involve less than seven years.
The report declared that the oldest slope appeal in the IHC dates back to 2017 and is presented against a death sentence verdict. He said that all appeals are being listed in his turn of the list maintained by the office that is determined from the date of the institution of these appeals.
“Appeal of the subject [by Imran] It has been presented on 31.01.2025, so the appellant has been sentenced to 14 years in prison and in the motion stage.
“After its admission, books are required to prepare paper. Until now, it is, considering that the NJPMC fixation address for regular audition reproduced in for 4, is not in sight during the year 2025,” he added.
A court of responsibility on January 18 condemned Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the case of £ 190 million, sentencing Khan at 14 years old seven years in prison.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana announced the verdict, previously delayed three times, in an impromptu room in the Adiala prison.
The Court also imposed a fine for RS1 million to the founder of PTI and RS0.5 million in Bushra. In case of not presenting the fine, Imran would face an additional six -month prison, while Bushra Bibi would have to turn three more months in jail.
