ISLAMABAD:
Aleema Khan, sister of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan, said on Saturday that the former prime minister spoke to his children for about 20 minutes and was “extremely happy to hear their voices”.
“The Chief Justice of Pakistan had ordered that Imran Khan be allowed to speak to his children. We can confirm that he was able to speak to them for approximately 20 minutes. His children shared that he was extremely happy to hear their voices after so long,” Aleema said in a post on X.
“We are now awaiting his urgent medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, under the supervision of his personal doctors, where all possible efforts must be made by the specialist doctors to restore his eyesight. The intentional delay in providing him with timely treatment has already caused damage to his eyesight,” he added. “We cannot and will not tolerate further delays, and immediate specialist care is essential to prevent any permanent vision loss.”
IHC declaration
The PTI has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking suspension of sentence and release on bail of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana II case. The party also filed a separate miscellaneous application, requesting early scheduling of the suspension of judgment hearing in the £190 million case.
The petitions were filed through advocate Salman Safdar and advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry.
The petitions claim that the PTI founder is suffering from a serious condition affecting his right eye. According to Dr. Muhammad Arif of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), a blood clot severely affected his right eye, reducing vision in that eye to only 15 percent. The application maintains that this condition cannot be adequately treated within the prison.
