Imran Khan, president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), has formally accepted the resignation of Ali Amin Gandapur as president of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Gandapur’s resignation, which was presented according to the directives of the PTI founder, was approved by Imran Khan.
This movement occurs only a few days after Gandapur was replaced by Junaid Akbar as the new president of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The decision to eliminate Gandapur from his leadership position follows significant political developments.
On Saturday, the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, relieved his narrow confidant and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, of the role of president of the party, naming Junaid Akbar Khan as his successor.
The change was announced by the general secretary of the PTI General Salman Akram Raja and is seen as part of the broader political strategy of PTI in the midst of continuous negotiations with the PML-N ruling coalition.
The nomination of Junaid Akbar as president of PTI KP occurred shortly after being elected without opposition as president of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly, occupying a position that had been vacant since the general elections of February 2024.
Although there were rumors about Gandapur’s potential replacement as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s prime minister, the sources indicate that the matter did not consider during the recent Gandapur meeting with Imran Khan.
The meeting, which took place in Adiala prison on Monday, caused significant political attention.
According to the sources, the two leaders discussed several issues, including the ongoing development projects and the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting lasted about an hour, after which Gandapur went to Islamabad without addressing the media.
The discussions between the two have raised speculation about their potential impact on both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s political landscape and in the broader national context.
As PTI continues to sail for a complex dynamic, the reorganization of leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa represents a key development that can influence the future strategy of the party in the region.
