RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan met his wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, sources said on Wednesday.
During the 45-minute meeting in the conference room, according to prison sources, the couple questioned each other’s health.
The meeting between Bushra Bibi and the PTI founder was held as per prison rules and they also met last week, they added.
The jail administration on Tuesday received some essential items, including blankets, warm clothes, fruits and dates, from Bushra’s lawyer.
The meeting occurs when the couple is imprisoned in Adiala jail due to their involvement in several cases. The former prime minister has been behind bars since August 2023 for several cases, ranging from corruption to terrorism.
The jailed PTI founder has denied wrongdoing in all the cases, which his party says are politically motivated.
Last month, both were sentenced to 17 years in prison each by a special court in the Toshakhana-2 case, which involves the cheap purchase of luxury state gifts.
Furthermore, the meetings with Imran have been a point of contention between the PTI and the government, with the latter imposing a complete ban on meetings until February 8 over alleged violations of prison rules by Khan’s sisters.
