Rawalpindi:

The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has asked party members to leave personal differences and focus on the movement of the party, amid signs of growing discord on a recent meeting held in Lahore.

Speaking to the media after meeting Imran in Adiala’s prison on Tuesday, Aleema Khan said the former prime minister had issued two strong messages. “Differences are deliberately created on Lahore’s meeting,” he said he said. “Finish personal disputes and focus completely on movement.”

She said Imran also criticized her prison treatment and claimed that both he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were being subjected to “oppression.”

“The superintendent of the prison and an officer have eliminated basic human rights,” he said, adding: “There must be responsibility for the treatment I have suffered. All this is being done by order of a person.”

Aleem also said that Imran expressed his satisfaction for the assistance of 300 parliamentarians of the matches at the Lahore meeting, but warned that any individual who causes divisions in the part would be personally. “We are in jail and you are feeding cracks, that’s unacceptable,” he said.

“We have been arriving in jail for two years,” Aleema continued. “Our family completely supports the decisions of the party. We want to see the instructions of the founder followed. The time has come to pave the way for their release and demand the end of inhuman treatment by the prison authorities.”

Meanwhile, the general secretary of PTI, Salman Akram Raja, publicly rebuked the organizer of PTI Punjab Aliya Hamza, calling her recent tweet about the feet event of the unnecessary party and warning of disciplinary action.

Speaking to journalists outside the Adial prison, Raja expressed his frustration for internal tensions after a meeting in Lahore, which was attended by the leadership of the main PTI. “Aliya Hamza should not have tweeted on the Lahore event,” he said, adding: “The whole conversation was nonsense. If something happens more, we will take disciplinary measures.”

He dismissed claims of exclusion of the event, stating that those who did not attend did so by choice. “There were no invitations problems. Who would like to come, could come. No one was arrested,” he said. “The press conference did not require everyone’s presence. It was only because the prime minister was there. He would not have seen himself well if he addressed only to the media,” he added.

Criticizing the efforts to politicize the event, he declared: “A controversy was deliberately created around the Lahore event as part of a conspiracy. What was the need to tweet after the press conference? I rejection that tweet and warning: do not do it again.”

Raja also made it clear that the party would follow the timeline established by the founder of PTI Imran Khan. “The date given by the founder will remain. These 90 -day conversations mean nothing. What I say is correct, and if someone dares to contradict myself, I will deal with them.”

He stressed that Aliya’s role was to mobilize the party in Punjab, not to comment on internal matters publicly. “His work is to work, not tweet. We will direct this movement according to the founder’s instructions,” he concluded.

PTI faces an internal crack

PTI is dealing with internal divisions on the timeline and the strategy for a national protest aimed at ensuring the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Discord, mainly between the central leadership of the party and its chapter of Punjab, has increased tensions as the protest date of August 5 proposed is approaching, which mark two years since Khan’s imprisonment.

The central leadership, including President Barríster Gohar Ali Khan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s prime minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, has advocated a 90-day campaign that culminated in a decisive protest, emphasizing a strategic accumulation to maximize the impact.

Gandapur, speaking at a Lahore press conference on July 13, described the movement as an effort to “do or die” to challenge what PTI calls a “fascist regime” and to ensure the launch of Khan.

In contrast, Aliya has firmly supported an immediate protest on August 5, aligning with a call attributed to Imran Khan through her sister, Aleema Khan.

According to reports, Aliya has threatened to resign if the party deviates from this date, highlighting the lack of coordination with central leadership. The crack became public when he expressed his frustration in X.
