Rawalpindi: The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, is spending his third eid ul Fitrio de Adiala, where strict security measures prevented him from offering eid sentences.
Khan, who faces charges from state secrets with leaks to the sale of state gifts, has been involved in 100 cases and has been imprisoned since August 2023.
While EID prayers remained in the central mosque inside the prison, Khan could not join due to security concerns. His wife, Bushra Bibi, who is also imprisoned, remained in his cell during the sentences.
Other inmates, underwater prisoners and prison officials participated in the congregation.
To guarantee safety around high profile prison, a three -day special security plan has been implemented.
According to the sources, eight additional security control points have been established on the roads that lead to the Adiala prison, with almost 200 officers and personnel deployed. Security personnel will perform duties in three shifts under the supervision of SP Saddar Nabeel Khokhar.
The authorities have reinforced security to counteract the possible protests of PTI supporters outside the prison. A reserve force has also been deployed, while police personnel have been equipped with riot equipment.
Meanwhile, ahead of Eid Ul Fitr, the belongings of PTI Khan’s founder were delivered to the Adiala de Rawalpindi jail. According to the sources, the articles sent for the founder of PTI include four new EID attire, a pair of shoes and a vest.
