Imran Khan writes a letter to the Army Chief, criticizes the establishment’s policies

The founding president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has written a letter to the Chief of the Army Personnel (COAS) also Munir, “criticize the policies of the establishment” and ask for a review of its focus towards security National and governance.

The letter, sent from Adial prison, highlights Imran’s concerns about what he describes as a growing disconnection between the army and the public, said Express News.

According to PTI Faisal Fareed Chaudhry’s lawyer, who revealed the content of the letter to journalists, Imran emphasized that the fight against terrorism can only succeed if the nation is united behind the Armed Forces.

Imran argued that the ‘establishment is supporting those who have benefited twice from the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO)’, a reference to past political settlements that allowed leaders to evade corruption positions.

He also raised concerns about the country’s economic instability, the conduct of the recent general elections and the actions of the State against his party.

According to reports, the letter includes six key points, urging the Army Chief to reconsider certain policies. Imran said that existing strategies are promoting resentment between the public, expanding the gap between civilians and the military.

He also wrote about issues related to the Law on the Protection of Electronic Crimes (PECA), actions led by the State against PTI and the role of intelligence agencies.

PTI leaders have framed the letter as a direct appeal for a policy change, while government representatives have not yet responded. The army has not issued any official declaration on the letter.

Last week, Imran Khan wrote a long letter of 349 pages to the president of the Supreme Court Yahya Afridi and Judge Aminuddin, who addressed issues related to human rights violations, electoral fraud and arrests of PTI workers.

In his letter, Khan criticized the Judiciary for not providing justice despite the repeated requests against electoral fraud and the continuous violations of human rights in the last 18 months. He said that PTI workers were subjected to forced disappearances, extrajudicial injuries and murders.

“The current government entered power through electoral fraud and historical rigging,” he wrote. “This unconstitutional regime has inflicted a severe oppression of PTI, demolishing our offices and subjecting our leaders to brutal torture.”
