Rawalpindi/Peshawar:
The former prime minister, Imran Khan, gave credit to the reports on Tuesday that efforts are being made to open a path of reconciliation with the establishment for release by reiterating that dialogue should always remain open for political and democratic solutions.
After meeting with Imran, who is currently being held in the Adiala prison in Rawalpindi, PTI, Gohar Ali Khan, told the media that PTI’s founder is susceptible to dialogue. “However, the founder has made it clear that his release will only be through legal means, not offers,” Gohar said.
On Tuesday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who belongs to the PTI, confirmed that attempts were made for the reconciliation of the opposition party with the establishment to make the release of Imran,
He said that before, some Pakistani abroad had tried to mediate reconciliation on their own, but the final decision falls only to the founder of PTI, in response to the questions of some journalists.
“The key questions are: there should be talks or not, who should direct them and under what terms of reference? These decisions are only in the founder,” he said.
According to Gandapur, if any party leader called someone but the founder did not agree, then the matter could not proceed. “Conversations can only advance if the founder himself pays attention to someone or agrees with a name,” he said.
He added that while it can be said that the efforts were underway towards the reconciliation between the establishment and the founder of PTI, it was difficult to identify any individual as a mediator since no one but the founder had the authority to approve said commitment.
In Rawalpindi, the president of the PTI, the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan said that the founder of the party has ordered the legislators who resigned from the permanent committees to also return the official vehicles along with the drivers.
He added that Imran has supported the decision of the party to boycott the partial elections and emphasized that the Kalabagh dam should be built with consensus among all the provinces. Gohar said that he and Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry had met the former prime minister and found him in good health and in a good mood.
“The founder appreciated the decision of the party to boycott the partial elections and said that it is.
He said that Imran expressed his pain for the deaths caused by the recent earthquake in Afghanistan, expressed concern about the repatriation of Afghan refugees and instructed the party to extend full support for the victims of floods. “It has assigned CM Gandapur the responsibility of maintaining a public demonstration in September.”
Speaking with reference to opposition leaders in the National Assembly and the Senate, Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz, who were unleashed last month after their conviction in the cases of May 9, Gohar said: “While Omar and Shibli have suspension orders, our leaders remain.”
Citing Imran Khan, he said: “People are spreading rumors about my health, I’m perfectly well.”
Gohaha said for three years that the founder of PTI had sought a dialogue, but the government committee showed no seriousness.
