Imran to move SC on the denials of the meeting

Rawalpindi:

The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf, Imran Khan, has ordered the leadership of PTI to take the issue of denial of his meetings with his friends and family to the Supreme Court.

Speaking with the media outside the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC), PTI Ali Zafar Senator summoned Imran Khan saying that he was ready to hold conversations in national interest. He said that many PTI lawyers visit Adiala’s prison to meet Imran Khan. He said that Salman Akram Raja’s comments regarding the meeting with the founder of PTI have raised a new controversy.

Meanwhile, the secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), Salman Akram Raja, has submitted two requests to the Superintendent of the Adiala jail, requesting meetings for family members and friends of the founder of PTI Imran Khan on Thursday.

Applications, signed by Raja, include opposition leader at the Omar Ayub Khan National Assembly, PTI Shibli Faraz, the head of the Sunita Ittehad Council, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, MWM Chief Alma Nasir Abbas, opposition leader at the Punjab Ahmad Bhachar Assembly Khhan Khhan. Family members containing the application include Aleema Khanum, Uzma Khanum, Noreen Khanum and Qasim Zaman.

Although Thursday typically reserves for meetings with friends, Raja requested that the Adiala prison administration allow the members of the Imran Khan family to meet him, since they were denied access during the day of the family visit on Tuesday.

It is noteworthy that PTI leaders had previously sought the intervention of judges after the jail administration repeatedly denied meetings between Imran Khan and their friends and family, despite a court order.

They condemned the denial as a contempt of the Court, and in a strong statement, they asked the judges to resign if they failed to defend the holiness of the Judiciary.
