Islamabad:
Interior Minister of State, Talal Chaudhry, said that the children of PTI imprisoned Imran Khan will have to enter Pakistan after obtaining visas “if they are not Pakistani citizens.” Chaudhry was talking to journalists at the Parliament’s house on Friday.
On July 9, Imran’s sister, Aleema Kham, announced that the family members of PTI’s founder, including her children Kasim and Sulaiman, would be part of a protest movement soon.
Speaking to the media, Aleema had said that they would lead the protest from the bars. “Imran Khan has said that he will lead the protest movement. He is free while he is in jail, but we are prisoners despite being outside,” he said.
He added that his children, Suleman and Kasim, would join the movement in support of his father after visiting the United States.
When commenting on the measure, Prime Minister’s advisor on political matters, Rana Sanullah said that the children of the former prime minister, who reside in the United Kingdom with Imran’s first wife, Jemima Goldsmith, would be arrested if they joined PTI’s protest in PiT in Pakistan.
Jemima led X to condemn the statement. “This does not happen in a democracy or in a functional state. This is not political. It is a personal revenge,” he said Thursday.
Answering a question regarding the participation of Imran’s family in the next protest, said the Minister of State together with his children: “Imran’s [alleged] daughter [Tyrian White] I should also come to Pakistan. “
“If they are Pakistani citizens, then visa restrictions will still be applied. To no local or foreign individual can come to Pakistan and take the law in their own hands,” he added. Chaudhry said that ancient Imran’s in -laws, the goldsmith’s family, continue to support the founder of PTI until today.
Separately, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Faisal Karim Kundi also declared that the children of Imran Khan are not out of the reach of the law, and if they try to take the law in their own hands, they will face legal consequences like any other citizen.
According to a report, Kundi said that celebrating peaceful demonstrations was right of all, including the children of PTI’s founder, but added that “if they cross the legal line, the law will take its course.”
When commenting on the duality status of the children of the founder of PTI, the governor said that if they do not possess Pakistani citizenship, then the matter may be under the reach of the high British commission.
However, he emphasized that no one is exempt from the Pakistani law. “Just when British law applies to Pakistani in the United Kingdom, the Pakistani law will apply to British citizens present in Pakistan,” he said.
Previously, in May, Suleman and Kasim had publicly approached their father’s imprisonment and requested international pressure on Pakistan to ensure their release.
This was the first instance that the brothers talked about the situation of their father, although he was allowed to contact him weekly since November 2023. According to Imran’s children, these calls were inconsistent and difficult to organize.
In an interview with the influential X (previously Twitter) Mario Nawfal, the brothers explained why they decided to break their silence.
