Imran’s letter indicates a subtle change in the posture

LAHORE:

The letter of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to the Chief of the Army, who the Government considers an act of despair, reflects a slight change in his position on the establishment, analysts say.

Some suggest that change can be linked to unleashed developments that take place in the background.

The analysts unanimously questioned the authenticity of the alleged military response transmitted by the television channels, which cited “security sources” that indicate that the army only communicates through ISPR and that any response from other sources must be taken with a grain salt.

Senior Mazhar Abbas political analyst, speaking with the Express PAkGazette, said that Imran Khan’s letter pointed out a change in his approach.

He explained that the letter does not seek the support of the army; Rather, ask the military to stop supporting the coalition government, which states that it was formed after a mass electoral rig. The letter describes PTI’s policies and urges the Army to support those who really won the elections.

Abbas said Imran has realized that the agitation policy has not yielded any positive results. If your Oberturas are reciprocal, you can attenuate your planned protest on February 8, opting for back messages -channels quiet.

However, if there is no response, the protest will continue as planned, although Imran does not want a repetition of November 26.

Regarding the informed military response, Abbas said that the establishment would also want to avoid a negotiation impression. The Government, added, would probably also seek guarantees of them. However, at this point, there is no progress in sight.

He believed that Imran Khan’s call for negotiations was a mistake that had put him in a solution, and added that PTI was fully aware of terrestrial realities and the possible results of the protests.

Senior Habib Akram presenter agreed that Imran Khan has softened his position, noting that the language used to address the army head was not as bitter as in the past.

The change of tone, together with recent meetings between military leaders and representatives of PTI, could insinuate some developments behind the scene, he created.

He also pointed out that PTI seems to have taken a silent step back on his demand for a judicial commission on the events of May 9, a measure that would have placed the military under intense scrutiny.

Unlike the famous 1977 letter of the Marshal of Air (Retd) Asghar Khan to the then Army Chief against Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Imran’s letter is more a declaration of facts, Akram argued.

He pointed out that the letter, contrary to any erroneous concepts about seeking a number, urges the Army to operate strictly within its legal domain, adding that it was essentially PTI’s proposal to resolve the current Pakistan crisis.

He also suggested that the reaction of the government inadvertently helped the letter to achieve its expected impact. He affirmed that the government’s response betrayed that the move does not apply.

Meanwhile, the alleged military response, citing ‘Security Sources’, seems to be a planted story. Any government official knows that a letter received by an official office cannot be ignored since they are obliged to respond, he added.

The senior political analyst and former caregiver, Hasan Askari Rizvi, believed that Imran Khan’s letter has successfully maintained PTI’s problems in the center of attention.

For Imran Khan, the key goal is to keep his complaints alive, and this letter achieves in abundance, he said.

He dismissed the notion that the letter reflects despair or an attempt to ensure a number. He also raised concerns about the alleged response of “security sources”, calling him unusual development.
