However, Nadeem rejected the invitation.
The invitation occurred just one day before the incident of Pahalgam, which has since triggered a new wave of accusations and counter-narrative between the two countries. Observers suggest that India’s movement to block the Nadeem account can be an attempt to control the online narratives surrounding recent disturbances.
Meanwhile, right -wing Indian groups have also criticized Neeraj Chopra for extending the invitation to the paquistani athlete.
A day before, Instagram had also restricted access to the accounts of several Pakistani prominent celebrities and influential in India, citing a legal request related to content regulation.
The affected accounts include those of actress Mahira Khan, the influence Hania Aamir and the singer-actor Ali Zafar. Indian users trying to see these profiles meet the message: “Account not available in India. This is because we comply with a legal request to restrict this content.”
