Islamabad:
The National Assembly unanimously approved a resolution on Thursday, declaring that any movement of India to suspend the Water Treaty (IWT) would be considered an “act of war.”
The Lower House also approved the Gas Electric Centers Law 2025, despite the opposition. The session, chaired by President Ayaz Sadiq, began with the opposition member IQBAL Aphridi pointing to a lack of quorum, which leads to a suspension of 15 -minute procedures.
After the time of the question, the federal minister, Ai Pervaiz Malik, introduced the draft Law of Electrical Gas Centers 2025, which sought to impose a tax in the captive electrical plants of private operated.
The bill was approved despite opposition protests. Initially, a five percent tax will be imposed, which can increase to 10 percent and, finally, 20 percent in later phases.
Later, the Federal Minister of Water Resources, Miin Wattoo, presented a resolution condemning the informed movement of India to suspend the IWT. The resolution, approved unanimously, declared that such action would be equivalent to a declaration of war and urged the government to take measures in this regard.
During the debate, the legislator of PTI, Iqbal Afridi, warned that India had faced the defeat before and would face her again if she continued to participate in the war and the terrorism of power.
Aijaz Jakhrani of PPP emphasized the critical importance of water, declaring: “Water is life, and we will not commit ourselves. Modi must listen to this strong and clear.”
The Lower House also strongly condemned the recent school bus attack in Khuzdar.
Member of the National Assembly of Baluchistan Mian Khan Bugti said that India had been involved in the Khuzdar school bus attack, promising to defeat the representatives backed by the Indians.
Meanwhile, in response to a warning of the quality of food and alternative arrangements for Hajj pilgrims, federal minister Sardar Yousaf assured the Chamber that any problem posed by the members would immediately be addressed.
The National Assembly session was postponed indefinitely.
