The Indiana Hoosiers finished 11-2 and appeared in the university American football playoff for the first time in the history of the program last season and seek to take advantage of that success in 2025.
The Hoosiers begin the season with Old Dominion, Kennew State and Indiana State before the Big Ten conference game begins against Illinois on September 20. However, the Hoosiers calendar was the topic of conversation during the Big Ten media days on Tuesday.

Hoosiers chief coach, Curt Cignetti, talked about why the school canceled a series at home and house against the Cavaliers of Virginia and hit the SEC in the process.
“That was a programming philosophy that began before being hired. But I signed it when hired, before our first season,” he said, through On3 Sports. “Look, here is the conclusion: we collected a game at extra house and played nine conference games.
“The two best conferences in university football, any type of football that is the goal will tell you, is the Big Ten and Sec. Twelve of the teams of 16 seconds play three g5 (group of 5) or a game of FCS. Twelve of those teams play 36 games of 29 g5 and seven FCS games, and a less conference game. Games.”

Cignetti continued to break down the program in an effort to support Big Ten schools that can be worthy of an automatic qualifier for the expanded university soccer playoff.
“Do you want to put the best teams in the playoffs? Give the best leagues (automatic qualifiers), but make them win with game games,” Cignetti added. “And we would not oppose the games of the regular season Big Ten-Sec every year.
“We need to standardize the schedule in all areas if we want to have objective criteria for who should be in the playoffs and who should not, and we need to make the decision -making of the committee to some extent.”

The Hoosiers are ready to take the field with Fernando Mendoza in the center. Omar Cooper Jr., who had 21.2 yards per reception, will also return.
