Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has expressed keen interest in leveraging the training ecosystem and aerospace development infrastructure of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to enhance his country’s defense capabilities, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
The Indonesian president showed interest during his meeting with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force.
“During the meeting, the Air Chief underlined the shared values and long-standing brotherhood between Pakistan and Indonesia, and President Prabowo expressed keen interest in leveraging the PAF’s state-of-the-art training ecosystem and aerospace development infrastructure to enhance Indonesia’s defense capabilities,” the statement read.
Previously, the Air Chief held separate high-level meetings with Defense Minister Lieutenant General (Retired) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Indonesian Air Marshal. He was granted a Guard of Honor in all places.
During the conversation with the Indonesian air chief, both sides discussed further cooperation between air forces, joint training from basic to advanced levels, professional exchanges and collaboration in emerging aerospace domains.
The Indonesian air chief sought support from the PAF to advance operational and flying training, recognizing the rich combat experience of the PAF.
The air chief received the Medal of Honor, the highest award of the Indonesian Air Force, in recognition of his role in strengthening bilateral air power cooperation.
The air chief also held a joint meeting with the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the Indonesian Defense Forces, where a wide range of defense and security issues were discussed.
Indonesian leaders appreciated PAF’s professionalism and modernization drive and praised the advanced technological infrastructure of the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park.
