Indianapolis 500 of Scott McLaughlin ended before the race became green.
McLaughlin and the rest of the field were turning around to prepare for the green flag. McLaughlin was heating his tires on the front immediately when his vehicle slipped and hit the wall.

No. 3 rested, and McLaughlin was incredulous.
Fox Sports transmission showed McLaughlin out of his vehicle with his head in his hands. His career team told the station Jamie Little that there was no way to repair the car to try to run when the race was at full speed.
The race had already been delayed for almost an hour, since rain drops fell just when the event was about to start.
The moment became one of the strangest moments seen in the Indy 500 in recent memory.

“I really have no idea what happened,” he told Little that he left the painting center. “Really annoyed by my team. They built a fantastic car again. I am very sorry for my sponsors, for my fans, my family. I don’t know what happened.

McLaughlin began in the tenth place in the fourth row out of Conor Daly. Alexander Rossi was on the other side of Daly.
He had a difficult week before Indy 500, since he was one of the drivers suffering from terrifying accidents during practice.
McLaughlin finished sixth at the Indianapolis 500 last season: it was the best end of his career. Sunday represented the worst end of his career in the race.

This season, McLaughlin had three finals of the first five and four top 10.
