IndyCar’s Scott McLaughlin walks away from horrific crash

Before the Alabama Grand Prix, an IndyCar driver was saved from a terrifying crash that prompted an emergency response.

Scott McLaughlin lost control of his car while attempting to make a sharp left turn; Commentators estimated it was traveling at least 150 mph at the time of impact.

The car swerved and hit the wall from behind.

A view from inside McLaughlin’s car showed McLaughlin putting his hands to his head as he began to lose control.

Fortunately, McLaughlin was able to walk away from the accident under his own power.

McLaughlin has seven wins to his name, including two at Alabama in 2023 and 2024. He also finished third in the race last year.

His best result in the Indy500 is the sixth place he obtained two years ago, after taking pole position. Last year, he crashed during pace laps and finished 30th.

McLaughlin finished third in the IndyCar Series twice, in 2023 and 2024. He made his IndyCar Series debut in 2020 at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix.
