Insta360 has just announced the GO ultra, its most advanced miniature chamber of miniature so far. With a new sensor and a processing chip on board, the GOG ultra promises to overcome all other small action chambers in the market when it comes to image quality, including Go 3s of Insta360, launched last year.
Until now, the Insta360 Go 3s has been our favorite miniature action chamber, and possibly the funniest camera available. Its tiny size and weight allow you to enter other cameras, even other action cameras, they simply cannot go, and it was the first model of the GO series capable of capturing 4K video.
It is a hard camera to defeat, so how is the new Ultra Ultra? We have completed an in -depth review of Insta360 GOG Ultra and go through the specifications sheets with a fine -tooth comb to see where the differences are found, and determine why it is possible that you want to exchange its Go 3s for a GO ultra. Or no …
1. Video quality and photo
The big brightness appears in the image quality front, with the GO ultra carrying a new 1/1.28 -inch sensor, which is a surprising 221% larger than the sensor of 1/2.3 inches of GO 3S.
Parade with a 5 Nm (also new) chip, this allows the GO ultra to offer 4K to up to 60 fps (the GO 3S surpassed at 30 fps), as well as special modes such as Purevideo for low -light shots and active HDR (which require the table of pictures to fall to 30 fps or underneath). The ultra also supports a more efficient H.265 video coding, while the 3S only admits H.264.
There is also good news for photographers: the GO ultra can record photos of greater resolution even at a maximum resolution of 8,192 x 6,144 pixels, unlike 4,000 x 2,250 pixels of Go 3s.
2. Audio quality
GEC ultra also increases the specifications on the sound recording front, with its incorporated microphones that admit 48 kHz / AAC AAC of 32 bits. The maximum audio quality of Go 3S is 48 kHz / aAC of 24 bits.
It is also worth noting that the GO ultra will admit a direct connection to the new Wireless Mic Mic Mic Microphone. The Go 3s does not admit it currently, although we assume that compatibility could be added through a future update.
3. Size and weight
There is a key area where the new camera does not exceed Go 3s. Due to its largest sensor that requires more space, the GO Ultra Standalone Chamber unit weighs 1.87 Oz / 53 Gy measures 1.8 x 1.8 x 0.7in / 46 x 45.7 x 18.3 mm. The Go 3s is lighter and smaller: 1.38Oz / 39g and 1.0 x 2.1 x 1.0in / 25.6 x 54.4 x 24.8 mm.
For a camera where small size and weight are an important point of sale, the slight increase in volume could discourage some people. I do not say that the GO ultra is large or heavy (it is very small for a 4K 60 fps camera), only that it is not as bright as its predecessor.
4. Battery duration
On paper, the GO ultra wins this round. Its independent camera has a 500 mAh battery that offers up to 70 minutes of execution time registration, while its action capsule battery has a capacity of 1,450 mAh that offers a total of 200 minutes of execution time.
That is much better than the registration time of 310 mAh / 38 minutes and 1,270 mAh / 140 minutes of execution of the GO 3S and its action capsule.
5. Storage
There is a clear difference in the storage approaches of the two cameras. The Go 3S is only available with built -in storage, and buyers have an option between 64 GB and 128 GB versions. However, the slightly larger design of the GOG Ultra means that it has space for a microSD card slot, so, although there is no incorporated space, it can be equipped with up to 2 TB of storage.
That could be very useful if, for example, I were traveling, since it could mean that you would not need to delete or download images with such regularity.
6. Price
It is new and brilliant, so, of course, the Insta360 GO ultra costs more than the Insta360 Go 3s. The GO Ultra Standard package (which presents the camera, the action capsule, a Magnet pendant, a fast -release security cable and a magnetic clip) costs $ 449.99 / £ 389 / au $ 759 and its creator package (the entire previous one plus a mini tripod, fast assembly and a píveo support) costs $ 499.99 / £ 429 / AU $ 839.
The Insta360 Go 3S has recently been reduced, with its standard package (which presents a camera and action capsule of 64 GB Go 3s, lens protector, magnet pendant, pivot support and easy clip) that now costs $ 319.99 / £ 279.99 / AU $ 719. That is an excellent price for a 4K action camera that has just over a year.
So there you have it: the key differences between the new Insta360 GE ultra and its predecessor The Go 3s. What do you think? Does the largest size of GOG ultra subtract value from its appeal, or those additional video capabilities are sufficient to convince it to change?
