- Insta360 has launched a new teaser for a launch event on April 22
- It has the motto “All day, all night, all angles” and suggests a new 360 camera
- Recent leaks suggest that you are preparing to launch the Insta360 x5
INSTA360 has long over our guide to the best 360 cameras, and a new teaser suggests that he is preparing to launch a new flagship model. Fortunately, some recent leaks have also given us an idea what to expect, with a successor of the Insta360 x4 last year that seems very likely.
The X4 was only launched a year ago in April 2024, but a promotional image for the Insta360 event on April 22 suggests that it will be replaced next week. The image (below), which has the motto “All day, all night, all angles”, shows the reflection of a camera that looks like an X4.
We have also recently seen some leaks that point to the arrival of an Insta360 x5 on April 22. The reliable @quadro_newshas published two filtered images for an X5, and the 360 camera also seems to have been published prematurely in an ad in the Best Buy application.

So what can we expect from the Insta360 x5? The leaks so far do not give much, apart from insinuating a gentle redesign of the camera in the form of a pill and potentially a larger battery to increase their recording times.
Insta360’s teaser video is also light on the details, mainly focusing on some of the impressive creative video effects that are the distinctive seal of the series. Our review installs360 x4 also gave the current model five stars, which suggests that there is little margin of improvement.
The Insta360 X5 has received a good update. Let’s look at how DJI 360April 15, 2025
But with Insta360 seeking to extend its leadership about GoPRO (which has not yet launched its GoPro Max 2) and DJI, which is starting a DJI Osmo 360 camera this year, there are definitely some new features in which it could intervene in its flagship chamber.
So, here there are five things that we would like to see of the rumored Insta360 x5 …
INSTA360 X5: What I would like to see
1. Better Light Performance
As most 360 cameras, one of Insta’s greatest weaknesses360 x4 is low light performance. It is still a day camera, but the Teaser de Insta360, with the motto “all day, all night, all angles”, suggests that its new model could improve this.
The weakness of little light comes from a combination of sensor size and processing. Our revision X4 pointed out that, although the images with little light look “quite clean” after being processed with the mobile and desktop editors of Insta360, they were also “a bit stained as a result of the noise reduction.”
With luck, a combination of improved processing and a larger sensor (see below) will make the rumored x5 a more versatile camera that can be used with confidence outside the bright daylight.
2. Larger sensors
The challenge for 360 cameras is that they need to house two image sensors, while staying in a pocket and friendly for travel. The Insta360 X4 combines two 1/2 inch sensors, which are decent but still a bottleneck in the image quality, hence the inclusion of an HDR video option to improve the details in the outstanding aspects and the shadows.
Although I do not hope that the X5 reaches the 3rd edition of 1 inch Insta360 One and jump to a 1 inch sensor, it would be good to see it updated to sensors of 1/1.3 inches (the same size that we recently saw in the Insta360 Ace Pro 2).
That would help improve the dynamic range, little light shots and the quality of the camera. It could also help the X5 to coincide with the incoming DJI Osmo 360, which is rumored that will go directly with 1/1.3 inches sensors.
It seems that a long -awaited competition in the 360 camera space could be good news for us …
3. Better heat dissipation
While it is not a big problem in most recording modes, we find that the X4 has a propensity to heat up quickly, particularly those that require high -resolution video modes.
The obvious way to avoid this is to avoid firing 8K static videos long, but it would be good to see that the rumored X5 will advance heat management.
This is less problems when firing action, since there is a natural air flow to cool the camera in those scenarios, but a reduction in overheating during stationary recording would be a more versatile 360 camera.
4. Replaceable lenses
We do not have many objections on the construction quality of the Insta360 x4. Our review called it “excellent” in this department and the camera is totally waterproof at 33 feet / 10 m, with all its sealed rubber ports and a practical codification within the capture, which allows you to quickly verify to ensure that everything is blocked.
But an update that would be useful are replacing lenses to the user. While it is possible to do this with third -party kits, it is certainly not easy and sending your camera to repair is the best bet for deep scratches.
It would be good to see that the rumored X5 offers something like the Gopro interchangeable lens system. That can be difficult to achieve in a 360 camera, even if it is insinuated in the Insta360 teaser video, where a worker breaks the camera with a hammer.
5. The same price
The Insta360 X4 is not exactly cheap at $ 499 / £ 499 / AU $ 879, but it is probably the funniest camera that you can buy for that money. We also thought it was a right price at the time of the launch of the X4, because it was only a marking of 10% of the X2, a camera that was launched in 2022.
Because Insta360 is based in China, there is a danger that recent US tariffs can end up with this price. But we hope that this is not the case and that the X5 (if it really is launched on April 22) reaches a price similar to its predecessor, at least outside the United States.
