- Intel publishes its sixth annual product security report, describing how it addresses security vulnerabilities
- Intel also criticized AMD and Nvidia, sharing little flattering statistics
- They claim that AMD has 78 vulnerabilities without planned solutions, NVIDIA only has high severity security errors
Intel has criticized its two greatest competitors, AMD and NVIDIA, for alleged security problems.
Its 2024 product security report, the sixth of this annual letter, discusses security challenges, how they were addressed and why Intel has a “competitive advantage” in the security guarantee. For his own solutions, Intel said that almost all the new vulnerabilities found in 2024 (96%) were discovered internally, and added that all the hardware problems found were also discovered by their own research team.
Then, he focused his attention on his rivals, stating that AMD reported 4.4 times more firmware vulnerabilities in its root of trust hardware, and 1.8 times more firmware vulnerabilities in its confidential computing technologies compared to Intel. He added that AMD discovered only around half (57%) of all the vulnerabilities of the informed platform, and that the company has 78 failures without planned solutions.
Battle of the giants
For Nvidia, Intel said the company reported 18 high severity vulnerabilities, 13 of which were remote code execution failures. At the same time, Intel GPUs only had 10 reported problems, one of which was a severe mistake.
Both AMD and NVIDIA have not yet commented on the report.
Reports like these should always be taken with a salt grain since they are a side, but especially because Intel is competing with AMD and Nvidia in different fields.
When it comes to the CPU market, Intel remains the dominant force. However, AMD increased its market share by 5.7% in the third quarter of 2024. In the front of the GPU, Nvidia could be the undisputed champion, but Intel has recently launched Gaudi 3 as a competitor. Unfortunately for the company, he failed to achieve his goal and canceled his next -generation Falcon Shores.
