- Intel has announced that its Unison application will be suspended at the end of June
- This was an alternative to the functionality of the Windows 11 phone link
- It was better in some way, especially for iOS users, and with the most optimized application, so it is sad to see a viable alternative IR
Intel’s version to tie his phone with his Windows 11 PC, the Unison application, is being closed, with Team Blue announcing that it will be suspended for most users at the end of June 2025.
The latest Windows reports that Intel made the announcement on the Microsoft Store list for application, indicating that: “Intel Unison will soon be suspended. The first step in its liquidation process is to finish the service for most platforms at the end of June 2025. Lenovo Aura platforms will retain the service up to 2025”.
If you are scratching your head and thinking “I have never heard of Intel Unison,” well, you wouldn’t be alone there. In a nutshell, it is the Intel version of the incorporated functionality of Windows 11 known as the Phone Link application.
Both the telephone link and the unison offer the ability to access the functionality of iOS or Android smartphones on the desktop of your PC with Windows 11. In the case of Intel Unison, the central skills are covered, such as responding to the texts, see notifications, make calls and file transfer operations if you want to change, for example, a photo of your phone to the PC for the PC.
As the latest Windows signals points out, Intel Unison’s key force is a better implementation on the iOS side (in fact, he admitted Apple smartphones from the off, when Microsoft took this formula for some time). It is also a more simplified application, and what they use is what they use: the review classifications for unison in the Microsoft store are currently higher than for the Microsoft solution.
In any case, if you use unison, you will have to get rid of the application soon, so it is possible that you are looking for a telephone link in a couple of months.
Windows Last has spoken with sources and statements that, although officially on June 30, it is the day that a unison will be suspended, it can continue working well on some devices for a little time later, or at least some parts of the application. In a short time, however, it will go out completely, so it could also begin to get used to that idea now.
ANALYSIS: DISUNICATION IN PROGRESS
Intel Unison will have lasted two years (almost) when the application is covered (Team Blue threw it in August 2023). It will be a pity that some people see it, since there are reports that it works rather than the phone link not only for iPhones, but also for Android devices, anyway, making some of the online comments for the application. (I have not used it myself).
If this is the first time you listen to Intel Unison, then, obviously, it is a bit late to learn about the application now. Although it is not something I had heard before, and Unison somehow flew under my radar, and I suppose that is part of the problem, and the reason why it has been eliminated. The other probable reason here is that, like the latest Windows suggestions, it is probably part of Intel’s cost reduction measures, with Team Blue that has to rationalize your business considerably, as we saw with all unfortunate layoffs (and more) last year.
Compared to Intel Unison, the advantage of the telephone link is that it offers a more advanced functionality, particularly for Samsung smartphones, of course, but for all phones more broadly. And that includes the most recent step of the integration of the phone link directly into the start menu, placing it in front and the center in the Windows 11 interface.
In summary, the telephone link does not go anywhere, and Microsoft will surely reinforce it in the future, so it is not likely that Unison has stayed up to date with this rhythm anyway. Even so, for those who wanted a simple alternative, and a simplified application that covered the basic concepts, and for all the accounts, covered them with a little poise, the Intel application installed the invoice, but obviously that will not be the case for much longer.
