- IOS 26 Beta contains a new call tone
- The melody has been published online, where the opinion has divided
- It is unknown if it will be included in the final launch of iOS 26
The iOS 26 update is full of new features, and Beta users are discovering lots that Apple did not mention in its WWDC event, including a new calling tone buried in the operating system code, and is already dividing the opinion among the Iphone devotees.
The call tone was noticed by X User @8810CFW, who published a screen recording of the audio in action. Other users, such as the Macrumors collaborator, Aaron Perris, confirmed that the calling tone was genuine and published their own clips from it.
Titled ‘Reflectionalt1-Entoremix’, the tone seems to be reproduced in a xylophone or a similar instrument. Perris described him as “glassy”, which could be a reason for its inclusion in iOS 26 together with the liquid glass redesign.
A polarizing melody
However, the call tone has divided opinion into social networks. Many users enjoyed it, with reactions like “That is a great blow”, “Oooo, I like this” and “I love it!” Filling the comments sections.
Under the publication of Perris, the user @rightcrown5 even said “Woah, that actually sounds incredibly well. It can be for future generations what Marimba had been for og iOS users.”
But not everyone is in love with Apple’s secret song. “Sounds creepy,” said one user, and another says that “it would depress me.” The “vomit” was used on at least one occasion.
It is not clear if Apple will really include this calling tone in the final version of iOS 26: we are still in the Beta developer phase, with the public beta that will be launched in July and the complete launch that will be launched later in the year.
Even so, with iOS 26, which makes it easier to load your own custom call tones on your iPhone, maybe you can spend that time adding a different melody to your phone while waiting.
