- Reddit users report dizziness, vertigo and visual fatigue with iOS 26
- This seems to come from visual effects that make icons seem inclined
- There are steps that can take to reduce the problem
It is sure to say that iOS 26 has not had the softest launch, after the reports that users regret the update due to battery life problems and text readability, we are now listening to reports from some even more serious problems.
Numerous Reddit users (through Phandroid) have reported that the new liquid glass design can cause the icons to seem inclined, particularly when there is a dark wallpaper or when used the themes of ‘dark’, ‘transparent’ or ‘dyed’ icons, instead of sticking with the predetermined icons.
The effect is to take some users to feel dizzy, develop visual fatigue or even inform feelings of vertigo. A poster described him as “an optical nightmare”, another said that “this update makes me feel drunk”, and there are many other similar publications.
Escape the effect
Fortunately, there are possible corrections to try. On the one hand, you can comply with the predetermined icon style and use a bright screen background. That should make the effect less visible, but may not completely solve the problem for everyone.
Another step that can take, as detailed in our guide to facilitate 36 years. Configuration> Accessibility> screen and text size and alternate in ‘reduce transparency’.
You may also want to increase the contrast, whose alternating can be found on the same screen.
Of course, having to jump through these hoops just so that your phone is usable is not ideal. Perhaps Apple could make some adjustments to the design of the liquid glass interface in a future update, to help with visibility.
