iOS 26 is now official, and Apple released the new software, and newly renamed, in its key note WWDC 2025.
This update includes a completely new appearance and a lot of characteristics and improvements, so it seems to be the largest update of iOS in a long time. It is not finished yet, but we do know what phones it will be compatible when it is launched at the end of this year.

What phones are compatible with iOS 26?
iOS 26 will be available for the following iPhones:
iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16E, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 12 12 Mini ,, and 12 Pro, iPhone 12, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, SE220), and 2020). If you have any of these, then you can update the finished software when you are launched (probably in September), and before that you can install iOS 26 betas if you want to try it early.
And, of course, the next iPhone 17 series that will surely also admit iOS 26, and these phones will surely be sent with the new software.
What phones are not compatible with iOS 26?
While a large number of iPhones are compatible with iOS 26, Apple has left support for the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR, so, although these phones are compatible with the software last year (iOS 18), IOS 26 will not be able to install.
It is likely that the iPhone 11 series and perhaps the iPhone SE (2020) obtain its final main update with iOS 26, since they are the oldest models to obtain it, but we will not know certainly until next year.
