Although we still owe ourselves at least one more than mid -year update for Ipados 19, we are already listening to some juicy rumors about the next important update of Apple’s tablet operating system.
Ipados 19 will probably be revealed on WWDC in June 2025, after the trend of previous years. In the same way, we hope that the next update of Apple ipados arrives at the general launch in September 2025, around the time we hope the iPhone 17 series will be launched.
Apple does not launch iPads annually in the way it makes iPhones, so we are not sure if new iPads will be launched together with the new software. We hope that all current generation iPads admit ipados 19 at the launch.
Keep reading for a summary of the 4 largest rumors of Ipados 19 that we have heard so far, as well as 2 more things that I would like to see that they come to the iPad platform.
- Ipados 19 is still far away, but we have already heard some key rumors
- The new features of the home screen could be on their way, as well as a new low power mode
- It is rumored that the new features shared with iOS 19 include a Siri with Intelligence of Apple and a redesign inspired by visions
Files set on the home screen
Apple fans have been calling mass to get more desktop style iPad functions for some years, and honestly, I understand. The iPad Pro and the iPad air are as powerful on paper as certain MacBooks, fed by chips sets of the M series with up to 16 GB of RAM.
We do not hope that Ipados 19 drastically push Apple’s tablets to desktop experience, but a remarkable typter suggests that at least a new desktop style function is on its way.
According to the Tipster Majin BU, Ipados 19 will bring the ability to set files and folders to the home screen, what we imagine means that they will appear similar to the application icons.
This could add flexibility to the iPad experience, allowing users to configure pages of their home screen with each focused on different projects or folders. Users have been able to add websites and widgets to the iPad start screen, so add files feels as a natural extension.
A new low power mode
Another rumor of the Majin Bu council notes that Ipados 19 could carry a revised low power mode to the Apple tablet line.
The rumor suggests that Ipados 19 will double the low power mode in Apple Intelligence, using AI to optimize performance and preserve battery life.
Currently, the low power mode of the iPad prioritizes essential tasks, attenuates the screen and blocks the screen at an 60Hz update rate in models with promotion screens (which only includes iPad Pro models at the time of writing).
Although I am a remarkable skeptic of AI, this sounds like an excellent way to use it. Some of my concerns about AI have to do with energy efficiency, so if Apple seeks to use it to preserve energy, I am happy to see with curiosity instead of doubt.
Apple’s intelligence, meet Siri
Siri must obtain his long -awaited Apple intelligence update with the next important update of Ipados, in line with the contemporary updates of iOS and Macos.
Initially, Apple had tried Imbue Siri with all the power of Apple Intelligence through an update of Ipados 18 of the middle of the year, but unfortunately this has not materialized.
In addition to marking another chapter in the disorderly deployment of Apple’s intelligence, this has led several commentators to adjust their expectations and establish views in Ipados 19 as El Salvador de Siri.
As we recently covered, Siri is very late in an update, since he still struggles to answer certain basic questions.
A possible redesign
As we reported previously, Bloomberg’s Apple Resident Expert, Mark Gurman, has suggested that iOS 19, Ipados 19 and Macos 16 will come with an important redesign inspired by visitors: think of transparent windows, circular icons and a less visual disorder.
Although we have not seen many rumors focused on the possible review of ipados, we have seen images that supposedly show the application of the iOS Redesñada chamber.
Although most of the last rumors of Apple software are referring to iOS, it tracks that Ipados would receive a similar visual update, since the two are generally reflected with each other when it comes to aesthetics.
Technically, Ipados has never had an important redesign, since the operating system only diverged of iOS in 2019. The last important redesign of iOS arrived in 2012, with the introduction of iOS 7.
What I want to see from ipados 19
I have been an iPad user long before joining the Techradar team, and my reliable 2020 iPad Pro is still working, but like many others I think there are some key things that Apple could do to raise the experience with ipados 19.
The first is the appropriate floating window support. I don’t care if you are packaged as part of the scene manager, I just want to change the size of the windows at will and place them wherever you want. I have resigned to want the iPad to behave exactly as a Mac, but I don’t think this crosses any borders.
As mentioned, the iPad Pro and the iPad Air now look desktop class chipsets that are more than able to run and change the size of multiple windows, especially for first -part applications.
The second feature I would like to see is a divided software keyboard. Honestly, it confuses that my 11 -inch iPad Pro does not support this function: the tablet is thin and laptop, but too big to write comfortably when it is maintained vertically.
So you have it there, my two -part desire list. Let us know what you want to see from Ipados 19 in the comments, and for a soda in the current Apple tablet line, see our list of the best iPads.
