- A new filtration states that Ipados 19 will obtain a Mac menu bar
- Stage Manager 2.0 will also reach iPad and iPhone, says the report
- However, there are reasons to doubt rumors
For years, a small but vocal group of technology fans has been asking Apple to essentially merge and macOS to some type of hybrid operating system that works on both platforms. Apple has persistently withdraw against this idea, but a new rumor suggests that the two systems could soon get closer even more when Ipados 19 is launched at the end of this year.
According to Leaker Majin Bu, the main changes will be made when connecting a magic keyboard to an iPad that runs ipados 19. When that happens, BU states that a menu bar will appear on the top of the iPad screen, providing a more similar experience to Mac.
In addition to that, BUs argues that Ipados 19 will come with Stage Manager 2.0, an update of the multitasking function that “is automatically activated when the keyboard is attached.” BU states that the new version of Stage Manager “will make the administration of applications and Windows softer and more productive than ever,” but does not go into more details.
In addition to Ipados 19, BU touched what could reach iOS 19. There, the filter said that the iPhones with a USB-C port, that is, those of the iphone 15 and the iPhone 16 ranges, can run the stage administrator when they connect to an external monitor.
This would extend your iPhone’s screen instead of simply reflecting it, as is the case. BU pointed out that this characteristic could come with some limitations, “possibly in resolution or the number of applications shown at the same time.”
Great questions are left
Majin BU has a somewhat irregular record when it comes to leaks and apple rumors, so his latest statements should be treated with a certain degree of skepticism. But apart from your history, there are other reasons to be doubtful.
On the one hand, Apple has long said that merging ipo and macOS elements will mean that both systems are lost, with too many necessary commitments for the hybrid platform to work. With that in mind, the cover directly from a macOS element such as the menu bar through ipados feels too close to the type of things that Apple has discussed for a long time.
In addition to that, adding the stage administrator support to the iPhone feels incredibly niche, since the number of people who will want to use an iPhone for productivity in this way is probably very small.
However, could the stages administrator support be something built for the next folding iPhone? It is likely that this device has a screen around the size of an iPad Mini, where the best productivity tools may make more sense.
We will have to hang on that, since the folding iPhone is not expected to reach 2026 or 2027. But while we wait, Ipados 19 and iOS 19 will land at the World Developer Conference of Apple (WWDC) in June. That could be when we finally see if Majin Bu’s statements are in money.
