The iPhone 17 series is here, and although rumors prior to the launch pointed to potential price increases, fortunately they did not materialize in the great Apple iPhone launch event.
As you can see in our breakdown below, Iphone Price news is largely positive, especially if you have been thinking of choosing an iPhone 17 base. Some decent exchange discounts are also offered for those who seek to book from this Friday, September 12.
At the other end of the scale, Apple also announced its most expensive iPhone, with the new 2TB version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max carrying its price at MacBook Pro levels at $ 1,999 / £ 1,999 / AU $ 3,799.
Even so, most of us will not seek to splash that kind of money on a new phone, so for everyone else here is the complete breakdown of how each iPhone model compares with its equivalent last year …

The best iPhone price news this year are for base models. The iPhone 17 begins at $ 799 / £ 799 / AU $ 1,399, that is the same price as last year’s 128 GB models, so it obtains double storage at no additional cost.
It is even better news for the 512 GB model, which has actually fallen at $ 100 / £ 100 / au $ 150. You can book one from September 12 for $ 999 / £ 999 / AU $ 1,799.
Perhaps the only inconvenience of the iPhone 17 base is that there is no storage option of 1 TB, with only those two capacities on offer.

The 5.6 mm thick iPhone air has effectively taken the witness of the iPhone Plus series and that is reflected in its prices.
The 256 GB version, for example, has the same price as the iPhone 16 Plus last year, at $ 999 / £ 999 / AU $ 1,799. It is the same story for the 512GB version (apart from a fall of AU $ 50 in Australia), but now you also get a 1 TB option.
Is it worth the slight increase in iPhone 17 base prices? Well, you only have a 48MP camera, but if you want a phone that only weighs 165 Gy, however, it still packs in an A19 Pro chip, it could be for you.

Despite the rumors that Apple could be giving its professional series a small price increase this year, which fortunately has not materialized.
There is no longer a 128 GB model, but the 256 GB version is the same price as the iPhone 16 Pro in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. In fact, the only slight difference for the other models is in Australia, with a fall of AU $ 50 for the 512 GB version and an Au $ 100 walk for the 1TB version.
If you need a little more storage, unfortunately there is no 2TB option on the iPhone 17 Pro, unlike pro max …

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is, of course, the most expensive of these phones, with prices that begin at $ 1,199 / £ 1,199 / AU $ 2.149. Fortunately, that is the same as the initial brand of the iPhone 16 Pro Max last year.
If you want identical storage in PRO and Pro Max, then you are looking for a price difference of $ 100 / £ 100 / AU $ 200. This year, Apple has introduced a new 2TB version for the first time in the Pro Max, but prepare to pay MacBook prices: the most expensive iPhone costs $ 1,999 / £ 1.999 / AU3,799.
For the context, that is the same price as a MacBook Pro with an M4 Pro chip, 24 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. It is not cheap, but then the most powerful iPhone never made it was going to be.

So how do Apple’s new iPhones compare with some of its closest rivals? Well, the initial price of the Google Pixel 10 base is the same as the iPhone 17, but only offers half the storage (128 GB compared to 256 GB). That means that it is likely to expect to see what discounts are available on pixels around the holiday season in the United States (when we usually see discounts from around $ 150).
As for Pixel 10 Pro models of Google, its launch prices are slightly lower than iPhone 17 Pro equivalents in the highest capabilities, although 256 GB capacity prices are identical. You can also get a 128 GB model for only $ 999 / £ 999 / AU $ 1,699, but that is not really recommended.
How do you compare all this with the Samsung Galaxy S25 series when it was launched?

The interesting comparison of the previous table is how the Galaxy S25 EDGE is compared with Apple’s new iPhone Air. When it was launched, Samsung’s thin phone was more expensive than its Apple equivalent, for $ 100 / £ 100 / au $ 50 for the 256 GB model, but has two cameras compared to that of the air.
Interestingly, the S25 was also more expensive than the iPhone 17, with the 128 GB model that cost the same as the 256 GB equivalent of Apple. It will be interesting to see if Samsung levels things with the Samsung Galaxy S26 series in January.
Apple has taken prices to the extreme in the other direction, with its new iPhone 17 Pro Max 2TB reaching the $ 1,999 / £ 1,999 / AU $ 3,799 brand. Once again, that is due in large part to the fact that their rivals do not offer an equivalent capacity, but that will probably change in 2026.
