Iran border cross in sealed Baluchistan

QUETTA:

In response to the growing security concerns linked to the growing regional tensions, the Baluchistan government has officially closed all border crossings with Iran in the districts of Gwadar and Panjgur, suspending the transport of pedestrians and fuel until new notice.

Development occurs when Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that 450 Pakistani pilgrims were evacuated from Iran today, with more than following the neighboring country and Iraq.

According to official updates issued today by several attached commissioners throughout the province, these measures are being taken as a precaution to safeguard public security amid the uncertainty derived from the deteriorated situation in the Iran neighbor.

A statement from the Office of the Assistant Commissioner of Gwadar confirmed the closure of the Gabd-Kalato 250 border corridor. “After the provincial directives, the cross-kalate’s crossing has been sealed indefinitely. Citizens are urged to stay informed and contact local authorities to obtain guidance,” the statement said.

Similarly, the Panjgur district administration announced the suspension of all movements through Iranian border routes, including the complete prohibition of fuel transport. The officials cited the potential for instability in Iran and the broader region as the main motivation behind the movement.

“The decision aims to avoid unforeseen incidents due to international tensions,” said Panjgur DC, emphasizing that public cooperation is vital during this period. The statement asked residents to avoid unnecessary trips and remain vigilant.

These restrictions occur when residents in Baluchistan already face fuel shortage and increase concerns about regional security, especially in the light of recent geopolitical developments involving Iran.

Meanwhile, in a position in X this afternoon, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice Prime Minister Ishaq Dar declared that the government was taking all the necessary measures to guarantee the security and well -being of the Pakistani citizens.

On Friday, Israel launched an aerial offensive aimed at Iran, attacking nuclear facilities and killing several commanders and scientists.

The assault was described as an attempt to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon, an accusation that Iran has repeatedly denied, insisting that its uranium enrichment program is only for civil use.
