  • Western officials warn that a US military strike could be “imminent.”
  • European and Israeli officials say Trump appears ready to intervene.
  • Tehran threatens retaliation against US bases in the region.

Iran has closed its airspace to all flights except international flights to and from Iran with permission, flight tracking website flight radar24 he said Thursday, as tensions between Tehran and Washington remain high.

The notice is valid for just over two hours, flight radar24 he said on his social media profile.

This development comes after a Western military officer said Reuters on Wednesday that “all signs indicate that a US attack is imminent.”

The official added: “[…] but that’s also how this administration behaves to keep everyone on their toes. Unpredictability is part of the strategy.”

Two European officials said a US military intervention could occur within the next 24 hours. An Israeli official also said it appeared Trump had decided to intervene, although the extent and timing were unclear.

US President Donald Trump, in his recent statement today, signaled a cautious easing of fears that the crisis in Iran could escalate into a broader regional confrontation.

Trump said he had been told that killings in the crackdown on protests across the country were declining and that he believes there are currently no plans for large-scale executions.

When asked who told him the killings had stopped, Trump described them as “very important sources on the other side.”

The president did not rule out possible US military action, saying “we’re going to look at what the process is” before noting that the US administration had received a “very good statement” from Iran.

In a televised interview on Monday, Trump warned that the United States would take “very strong action” if Iranian authorities went ahead with the execution of protesters they had detained during widespread unrest.

In response, Tehran warned neighboring countries hosting US troops that it would retaliate against US bases if Washington carries out threats to intervene in protests in Iran.
