The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan, in a statement issued on Sunday, condemned, “in the strongest possible terms,” what it called “the cowardly, appalling and barbaric terrorist act of attacking the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The statement comes amid confirmation by Iranian state media that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed in Israeli and US strikes launched yesterday against Iran.

“Remembering the courage, resilience, steadfastness and lifelong devotion of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to the ideals of independence, dignity and resilience,” the statement read, reaffirming “unwavering solidarity with the noble aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.”
Furthermore, the embassy offers its firm commitment to the enduring principles of the Islamic Revolution, emphasizing “that we will defend the eternal aspirations of this Great Martyr until our last breath and the last drop of our blood.”

The statement considers Khamenei “a great historical figure who, like his Great Ancestor, Imam Hussein (PBUH), was bravely martyred along with his innocent family at the hands of the most despicable, vicious and cowardly elements of Karbala and did not surrender or succumb.”
Khamenei’s struggles, the embassy writes, calling him a Great Martyr and tireless scholar, “will forever be recorded in history and will be a model for the free peoples of the world.”
“The blood of the Great Leader…made the evergreen shoot of the Islamic Republic more fertile and resilient,” the statement added.

Stating that Iran is based on strong constitutional institutions and well-established legal mechanisms, the embassy adds that “based on the solid structure established by the great imams of the Islamic Revolution, based on the blood of martyrs and under any circumstances, the country, in full accordance with its Constitution, will ensure continuity of leadership and governance with unity, resilience and firm determination.”
He adds that the Islamic Republic will elect its new leadership, “continuing with courage and firmness its spiritual and human path forever.”

Khamenei, 86, was a martyr in the most ambitious series of attacks against Iran in decades that have so far killed 201 people and wounded more than 700.
US President Donald Trump said the airstrikes against Iranian targets were aimed at ending a decades-old threat from Iran and ensuring it could not develop a nuclear weapon, as he sought to justify a risky tactic that appeared to run counter to his professed opposition to US involvement in complex conflicts abroad.
However, Iran retaliated following what Israel and the United States called “Operation Epic Fury,” launching hundreds of missiles and drones in response to the initial attacks. Iranian missiles have targeted US troops in the region and cities in Israel and Arab countries allied with Washington.
