Iran has expressed interest in joining the Sama route initiative together with Pakistan and China, indicating its desire to benefit from the growing regional connectivity and infrastructure development.
The development occurred during a joint meeting in Islamabad on Sunday, where Iranian minister of roads and urban development, Farzaneh Sadegh, who accompanied the Iranian president in an official visit to Pakistan, participated in a joint meeting held with federal ministers Abdul Aleem Khan, Jam Kamal Khan and Hanif Abbasi, according to an official statement.
Discussions focused on strengthening long -standing friendly and bilateral relationships between the two countries, particularly by improving transport, connectivity network and road infrastructure.
During the meeting, Iran expressed interest when joining the Silk route initiative with Pakistan and China and discussed the expansion of maritime trade through the Gwadar-Chaba route.
Welcoming the Iranian delegation, the Federal Minister of Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, congratulated Iran for his great success and his firm position against Israel, describing him as a matter of pride and solidarity for the entire Muslim world.
He stressed that Pakistan and Iran have always supported themselves, while recent developments have approached the two more nations.
Aleem Khan invited the Iranian minister to attend the next ministerial conference in Pakistan from October 23 to 24, which will be organized by Pakistan and ministers from 20 participating countries.

In response, Iranian minister Farzaneh Sadegh expressed his deep appreciation for Pakistan’s support against Israeli aggression and extended feelings of goodwill to the people of Pakistan.
He highlighted the need to increase the number of vehicles that operate between Iran and Pakistan and suggested to modernize the current Queta-Zanan route.
The Minister of Communications, Aleem Khan, proposed to form bilateral work groups to accelerate the implementation of agreed initiatives.
During the meeting, Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan informed the Iranian delegation about opportunities to expand the commercial volume and highlighted the significant potential without exploiting in several sectors.
He pointed out that both countries can serve as viable markets.
Federal Railroad Minister Hanif Abbasi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to review the Islamabad-Tehran-Estambul railway projects, adding that the Queta-Zanan railway line would be updated and expanded to improve regional connectivity.
In response, Iranian minister Farzaneh Sadegh thanked his Pakistani counterparts and assured the full cooperation of his country, Iran.
He described his visit to Pakistan as very pleasant and memorable, expressing optimism for more dynamic and effective bilateral commitments in the future.
Minister Aleem Khan, remembering his recent visit to Iran, described progress in bilateral relations as positive and significant.
He also presented gifts to Farzaneh Sadegh and transmitted warm wishes to the people of Iran.
Pak-Iran Sign 12 Mou
Pakistan and Iran also signed 12 agreements and comprehension memorandes (MOU) aimed at improving cooperation in several sectors.
The ceremony for the exchange of documents of Agreement remained in the presence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Masoud fishshkian. Highlighting the bilateral ties, Shehbaz said that Pakistan and Iran are committed to increasing commercial volume to $ 10 billion. He observed the signature of multiple agreements and Mous aimed at transforming mutual potential into practical economic cooperation.
Dr. Pezeshkian extended the invitation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to visit Iran to renew the conversations and follow the progress made in bilateral relations so far. He also thanked the prime minister for the warm hospitality to him and his delegation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly received the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian upon arrival at the PM Chamber. The vice president Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the federal ministers and the field marshal also were present.
The Iranian president planted a commemorative offspring in the garden of the House of PM. The prime minister also presented the guest to the members of the Federal Cabinet.
Separately, the Iranian President, Dr. Masoud fishshkian, called President Asif Ali Zardari in the AIWAN-E-SADR and the two leaders reaffirmed their resolution to deepen bilateral cooperation in various sectors and jointly promote peace and stability in the region.
