- Irobot launches a new flakeless ship Max 705 Vac with an AutoMpty dock
- It has a little more suction than other rooms, but it is much simpler
- It costs $ 899.99 / £ 699 and is available to preorder now
Irobot has presented a new flagship robot vacuum: the Max 705 Vac, along with AutoMpty Dock. And although it looks like a very capable robovac, I can’t help feeling quite disappointed and a bit confused too.
It looks like only Area where this robovac improves in the rest of the range is that it has a higher maximum suction level. That is great, the cleaning power is quite key if your robovac will be useful, after all, but it is not the most exciting attribute for a flagship model.
In addition, there are several ways in which the VAC Max 705 is missing compared to the other inhabitants. It is the only Model of not offering receiver capabilities along with the vacuum, which also means that the dock is significantly more basic than the car that comes with the 405 and 505 models.
I am not reluctant to a robot only in a vacuum, and I do not believe in complicating to complicate, but it is confusing to have an flagship model with a list of features that is much shorter than the models under it.
The reason I know is an flagship model is because it has ‘Max’ in the name. The name scheme for Irobot Goes Roomba (good), Broken Plus (better), Roomba Max (Best).
To be fair, the price reflects this relative simplicity. The Max 705 Vac costs $ 899.99 / £ 699, compared to $ 999.99 / £ 699 for the Roomba plus 505 below it. That is significantly more affordable than most robovacs rank models: many of today’s best robots vacuum cleaners have list prices in four figures.
In another place, it is obtaining the most advanced Lidar navigation of the brand (‘Clearview Pro’) and object detection technology ( home. All excellent characteristics, but no exclusive of the VAC MAX 705.
The suction will automatically increase when you feel on the carpet, which could Be a unique feature, although Plus 505 can “adapt intelligently for deep cleaning”, which seems that it could be the same.
This stinks
In addition to feeling disappointed by the new launch, I am also frustrated to see that Irobot seems to have returned to his plans to publish suction specifications for his Robovac line. Instead, he insists on transmitting the powers to clean its bots compared to the 600 series. That not only makes the comparison with the models of other brands impossible, but it is not exactly a modern reference point given the 600 launched more than a decade ago.
Based on the ICOBOT specifications, the 705 VAC offers “180x plus power elevation suction” than the old 600 series, while the rest of the range simply offers 70x more. But without a figure in Pascals, I cannot compare that with what other brands are offering with their robovacs.
A late addition
The Max 705 Vaca Roomba is an unexpected lag after an important Irobot restart last month. In mid -March, the brand rejected almost its robovacs fleet and replaced them with new models. The new Roomba features included delayed updates such as the introduction of Lidar for navigation, along with more innovative characteristics such as a bot that squeezes dirt in its integrated container so that it does not have to leave space for a self-sheep bulky dock.
The only model that survived sacrifice was the Roba Max 10 combo, which at that time was still quite new. I pointed out at that time that this was a shame, because that model had not been greatly well received, and seemed quite outdated compared to its new stable colleagues.
It seems that Max 705 Vac is replacing that model. It seems that it will be a better robovac, with basic characteristics in line with the rest of the range, even if there is nothing especially new. 705 is also less than half of the price of maximum 10.
I suppose that a combined model is being prepared and will join the range at some point, although that is purely speculation.
The Dock AutoMpty Dock AutoMpty Robot + AutoMpty Dock is now available for pre-pedd, with the official launch that is due on May 11, 2025. Direct from Irobot, costs $ 899.99 / £ 699.
