The United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) plans to use AI to replace workers who have made extensions to their workforce.
The United States Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Besent, discussed the budget proposal at an audience of the Chamber Assignments Committee, with confirmation reports that the IRS has lost almost a third of its fiscal auditors since the beginning of the second Trump administration, with the Elon Musk (Doge) governmental efficiency department resignations’.
Besent argued that the proposed reductions and plans to boost more dismissals would not affect the tax collection capabilities of the agency thanks to the “current AI boom”, although it did not explain exactly how the agency will display technology.
