- Windows 10 and 11 users are getting a Turned ad
- He is pressing the most expensive version of the game through an emerging window.
- According to reports, this has been happening for some time, in addition to other promotions of similar games that are direct ads that cross a line
Microsoft seems to be more desperate with the ads these days, and more frequently pressing the games in Windows, since I just faced with a new Windows 10 announcement.
Yes, my Windows 11 update calendar is running a little behind my planned timeline, and I am still in Windows 10, but not for much longer, since the end of the life of the operating system is just six months away. And I will change especially quickly if Microsoft is going to push emerging windows as it is in my face through the notification center on the right side of the desk. (That said, this promotion is also pressing the PC with Windows 11, and I will return to that).
The notification is labeled ‘suggested’ and it is for the declared premium edition, urging me to ‘forge my destination’ and click a button that says ‘Buy now’ (or alternately, there is a button to ‘discard’).
Clicking on the Buy option sends it to the Microsoft Xbox store, where you can buy the game declared independent or get access to it by registering the game’s pass.
As you can see in the Reddit publication below, I am not the only person who presence this ad. In fact, this promotion is currently rounding, and has also been in the last month or two, in Windows 11 and Windows 10, since it was launched more or less.
I restarted my PC and this appeared. Microsoft must be really desperate to push declared. And this is the first time that you have seen them suggest a game through the notification of the operating system in Windows 10. From R/Kotakuinaction
ANALYSIS: Direct ads are an area between not going in a paid operating system, Microsoft
This declared announcement also comes from other promotional activities related to games, such as the same type of notification that pushes Windows 11 users to buy the Vault Call of Duty Black Ops 6 edition.
It is interesting to note that Microsoft is announcing the Premium edition of Avowed, which is a more expensive considerable fragment (almost 30%), and is not worth it for most people (since it only adds some skins and a digital art book). I think it should be linked to the standard edition, really, so people are looking at the reference product.
At this point, there may be some of you shouting on your monitor (I can’t hear it incidentally) and reprimand for not turning off Microsoft’s suggestions in Windows 10 (or in fact Windows 11 for those users). Well, I keep this on because otherwise I can’t see what kind of Microsoft nonsense is throwing like this, and then I write about it. Hopefully it would persuade the company to abandon this idea, and all similar promotional things that they kicked in Windows 10 and 11.
To be fair to Microsoft, at least in this case, if you right click on the notification, there is a link provided there to ‘disable all notifications to suggest’ and you can do exactly that. Therefore, you do not have to cross the configuration application to find this choice and exercise it.
However, these suggestions are activated by default in Windows, and would say they should not be. Microsoft would certainly disagree and maybe it would counteract that in some cases, recommendations can help people, but not in the case of what is clearly an announcement as this declared emerging window. You cannot argue that you are helping someone that their PC and the data be safer in this scenario, as Microsoft could suggest when it comes to pushing their PC through OneDrive.
The truth is that direct ads such as this that are clearly not close to the typical evening recommendations that are seen in Windows should not happen at all in a paid desk operating system, no unless the user wishes and allows it.
