Islamabad: A district court and sessions in Islamabad issued an arrest warrant for the former governor of Sindh Imran Ismail on Monday in a case related to violence and vandalism during the “Azi march” of 2022 of PTI.

Ismail, who separated from the PTI in May 2023, was nominated in a case of violence registered at the Islamabad Barakahu Police Station.

Judicial magistrate Movebir Hassan Chishti issued the order and went to Ismail being arrested and produced before the court.

The order was issued after Ismail did not appear before the court in the case.

In November 2022, the ‘Azadi’ march directed by Imran Khan, along with other leaders and supporters of PTI, was held in several cities of Pakistan. The march ended with Khan’s announcement to dissolve the assemblies.

The PTI began its long march towards the Federal Capital on October 28, 2022, in an attempt to force the Government of the Coalition to the early elections.
