The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) on Wednesday announced a revised operating schedule for all government-run educational institutions in the capital for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced today that the crescent moon of Ramadan 1447 AH was sighted and that the first fast of the holy month would be observed on Thursday.
Accordingly, a decision notification issued by the FDE academic wing on school timings affects model schools and colleges in Islamabad as well as former FG colleges in urban and rural areas. The revised schedule aims to provide relief to students and staff observing the fast while ensuring that academic activities continue uninterrupted.
Under the new schedule, single-shift institutions and ex-FG schools will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, with an earlier closing time of 12:00 p.m. on Fridays.
For double shift institutions, the morning session will run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. throughout the week. The evening session is scheduled from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday, and Friday afternoon classes begin at 1:30 pm to accommodate congregational prayers.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the Education Department announced revised school schedules for the holy month, according to an official notification issued today.
According to the new schedule for the flat areas of the province, primary schools will operate from 7:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Middle, high and high schools will operate from 7:45 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
The revised schedules will remain in effect throughout Ramadan to make it easier for students and staff to observe the fast.
The Sindh School Education Department has also revised school timings across the province, according to a notification issued today.
The notification outlined new timings for primary, secondary and higher secondary schools. According to the revised schedule, single-shift schools will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while on Fridays they will close earlier at 11:30 a.m.
For double shift schools, the first shift will run from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The second shift will run from 11:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
The new timings will apply to all public and private schools in Sindh.
