Islamabad, Kabul has key conversations about repatriation

In a significant development aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, a high -level delegation of the interim government of Afghanistan met with Pakistan Minister of State for the interior, Talal Chaudhry and Interior Secretary Khurram Agha in Islamabad on Friday.

The Afghan delegation was directed by the Minister of Commerce and the Haji Nooruddin Azizi industry, and included the Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan and other senior officials.

During the meeting, both parties participated in integral discussions on key matters of mutual interest, including cross -border traffic trade and the repatriation of Afghan nationals, which currently reside in Pakistan.

Chaudhry reaffirmed Pakistan’s lasting commitment to promote friendly and cooperative relationships with Afghanistan. He pointed out that Pakistan had generously received millions of Afghan nationals in the last four decades and would continue to welcome those who enter through legal channels.

Chaudhry emphasized government efforts to manage migration in an orderly and legal manner, citing the “regime of a document” as a necessary step to ensure that documented persons only remain in the country.

He stressed that Afghan citizens had in high esteem and that their repatriation would be carried out with dignity and care. “To support this process, more than 50 traffic camps equipped with medical and essential facilities throughout the country have been established,” said Chaudhry.

“In addition, complaints under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior and the main provincial secretaries are operating to avoid adverse incidents,” he added. He said that Afghan nationals who have registration cards (by) would not face any difficulty until June 30, 2025.

On the occasion, Azizi expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s long support for Afghan refugees and recognized hospitality extended over the years.

He transmitted the Afghan government desire to deepen cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in areas of security and commerce.
