
Rawalpindi: The torrential showers continued to surpass Islamabad and adjacent to Rawalpindi during the night, with 199 millimeters of rain increasing the fears of urban floods, which led the administration to seek the help of the army in twin cities.
According to a spokesman for the water and sanitation agency (WASA), the managing director of the authority communicated with Brigade 111 of the Pakistan army, since it has decided to call the army in case of emergency.
With the forecast of the Pakistan Meteorology (PMD), more waters have sounded, the sirens have sounded in areas surrounding Nullah Leh as the water level has increased by 16 feet.
WASA has said that a rain emergency has been imposed and that its equipment and heavy machinery have been deployed in low areas of Rawalpindi with occupied personnel in drainage efforts to address accumulated water.
“Nullah Leh and drains throughout the city are being continuously monitored,” said Wasa MD, adding that the water level in Katarian was 18 feet and 17 feet on the Gowalmandi bridge.
Meanwhile, the 1122 rescue has also been put on a maximum alert, and its district management officer advises people to be safe places before urban floods and evacuate ruins.
Until now, Saidpur has received 53 mm of rain, 77 mm in Golra, 95 mm in Bokra, 67 mm in Shamsabad, 105 mm in Kachehri, 90 mm in Pirwadhai and Gowalmandi and 80 mm in Katario.
Cloudburst in Chakwal
In addition to twin cities, several areas in Punjab continue to be mistreated by heavy rains. An explosion of the cloud was seen in Chakwal, causing up to 423 mm of rain.
Several low areas have flooded with water, entering the houses. The district administration has said that a rescue operation was underway to transfer citizens to safer places.
According to the additional attached commissioner, the serious situation is the result of a cloud.
“Civil Administration is working to rescue citizens,” said Bilal Bin Hafeez.

Speaking about heavy rains and the situation in Punjab, the Secretary of Emergency Services, Dr. Rizwan, said that more than 400 mm of downpour were recorded in Chakwal and, therefore, handling the situation was a challenge.
“Climate change is a great challenge worldwide,” he said while talking about Geographical news‘”PakGazette Pakistan” program.
“Until now, the ceilings of approximately 310 houses have collapsed in Punjab during the monsoon season and 15 traffic accidents have occurred due to the rain [in the province].
“There have been about 90 deaths in several accidents in Punjab since June 16,” said Dr. Rizwan.
