The president of the United States, Donald Trump, described the attack of missiles of India against Pakistan as “a penalty” and expressed the hope that the situation would be broken down quickly.
Speaking during a juror ceremony for the special envoy Steve Witkoff in the White House, Trump told journalists: “It’s a shame. We just listened to it while we walked through the oval doors. I just heard it.”
He added: “They have been fighting for many, many decades … I hope it ends very quickly.”
Trump’s comments occurred hours after Pakistan’s DG ISPR confirmed to Indian Indian attacks at five places, including Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muzaffrabad, Bagh, Muridke, pointing to civil areas that include a mosque. Security sources said a child was among three people who were martyred in the Indian attack.
Pakistan’s armed forces responded, demolished two Indian airplanes while saving all Pakistani aircraft, according to security sources, adding that retaliation operations had gone up.
The Indian Ministry of Defense admitted strikes, but claimed nine objectives, without details. Pakistan closed Islamabad airspace, diverting flights, in the midst of a “red alert.” DG ISPR promised that Pakistan would respond “at a time and place of his choice,” calling the “coward” attack. Muzaffrabad experienced a postal blackout.
The tensions between the neighbors with nuclear weapons intensified abruptly after the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, India illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk), who killed 26 people.
India immediately blamed the elements based in Pakistan, but did not offer evidence, a claim that Islamabad strongly rejected.
In retaliation, India, on April 23, closed the land border of Wagah, suspended the Indo Water Treaty and revoked visas for Pakistani citizens.
Pakistan responded by declaring any water interruption as an “act of war” and closing its side of the Wagah crossing.
The diplomatic crisis intensified when the Pakistan Senate unanimously dismissed the accusations of India as without foundation on April 25. The next day, the High Pakistani commission in London was destroyed during the Pro-India protests.
