- Ultimea to present 9.2.6 channel surround sound bar system at CES
- Two subwoofers and four satellite speakers
- Also available in a single sub version
Ultimea makes some of the best soundbars on the cheaper end, like the Ultimea Nova S50 and our current pick of ultra-cheap soundbars, the Ultimea Poseidon D50. That’s why we’re intrigued to see the brand introducing a new premium surround sound bar system with up to seven speaker units at CES: the Skywave X100 Dual.
Ultimea describes the Skywave as its “flagship product for 2026” and has been teasing two versions of the product on Instagram and Facebook: the Skywave X100 and the Skywave X100 Dual. The first is a surround sound system with a single subwoofer, while the Dual has two.
Ultimea Skywave X100/X100 Dual: Key Features
Until now Ultimea keeps the details secret and prefers to show videos and images that give clues to the design. But based on the CES preview image at the top of this post, the setup appears to be a 9.2.6-channel system with a center soundbar, four satellite speakers, and those two subwoofers, with Ultimea promising “theater-quality bass” and “effortless simplicity.”
If we enlarge and enhance the image above using advanced imaging technology (yes, it’s Photoshop), we see the expected layout of the new system: sound bar on the front, two small satellite speakers on the side, two rear speakers, two subwoofers on either sound bar, TV showing edge of tomorrow for a demonstration (naturally).
I assume that each of the small satellites includes one surround channel and one upstream channel, and the sound bar offers five surround channels and two upstream channels.
Ultimea’s current Skywave flagship is the X70 soundbar, which produces up to 980W in a 7.1.4 configuration with wireless satellites and a 10-inch subwoofer. Although it’s now discounted, the original retail price was $799/£679 (around AU$1,192).
We were very impressed with Ultimea’s budget soundbars, but if the That’s 5.1.2 instead of 9.2.6, but there’s more to a sound system than its number of channels, and the Samsung is an excellent sound system.
However, if Ultimea can achieve a super immersive Dolby Atmos system (Atmos is not mentioned in the Ultimea information so far, but has ser) with multiple true surround speakers at a good price, it’s sure to spark a lot of interest from the TechRadar team.
The brand’s livestream from CES should be interesting, especially since Ultimea says it intends to give away more than $10,000 in “giveaway rewards” to live viewers. It will also feature more product announcements, including “a complete home audio ecosystem,” including “wireless home theater systems, bookshelf speakers, active subwoofers, music streamers and karaoke machines.”
