- AirPods Pro 3 users are still angry at Apple for not fixing the frustrating static issue when ANC is enabled
- These issues arose a few months ago when Apple launched the AirPods Pro 3, but the company has yet to fix the flaws.
- Reddit users share that despite going through several replacement models, hardware and firmware updates are not helping the cause.
Are you still having problems with your AirPods Pro 3? Don’t feel like you’re going crazy: you’re not the only one.
Since Apple launched the latest addition to its family of audio hardware in September, users have reported static and crackling in their headphones when active noise cancellation is enabled and music is not playing. Some users have also reported that it affects music playback.
We reported on the distracting static issue back in October, and from the outpouring of frustration online (see below), it appears Apple has yet to resolve this issue, which is a shame since the AirPods Pro 3 are currently one of our best headphones.
AirPods Pro 3 noise and static issues have not been resolved from r/apple
Between now and October, MacRumors has noted that even though Apple released two firmware updates (version 8B25 in November and version 8B30 on December 10), the company still hasn’t managed to resolve the one issue that users have been addressing since the headphones were released. But it doesn’t end there; Some users have also reported latency and sound sync issues when watching videos, MacRumors adds.
Although some AirPods Pro 3 users have been seeking replacement models directly from Apple, this has yet to improve the issues mentioned above. One Reddit user even shared that he had reviewed a staggering four different pairs of AirPods Pro 3 in search of a resolution, expressing his anger at Apple for “pretending it doesn’t exist.”
Among user impatience and annoyance is also an overwhelming sense of regret about upgrading to the latest AirPods Pro 2 earbuds, which one user in the Reddit thread above described the predecessors as “too goofy.” They’re right, as we also described the AirPods Pro 2 as a “hugely valuable upgrade from Apple.”
As things stand, there doesn’t appear to be a firmware or hardware fix for the issues, and Apple has yet to comment, which hasn’t helped the existing wave of user frustration. Apple’s recent firmware updates don’t list the exact issues they aim to fix and simply note “bug fixes and other improvements.”
