Trevor Lawrence led an incredible winning impulse of the game that saw him throw a penny to the open receiver Brian Thomas Jr. before he got, fell and came up again to score the Touchdown of the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night.

Lawrence led the Jaguars to the 1 Yarde line of the Chiefs. He aligned under the center, took the click and when he retired, he had his foot. He somehow clung to the ball when he fell back. Instead of throwing the ball, Lawrence got up, took a look around the field and found an opening.

He went to his left and shook a possible chiefs tacle before he plunged into the time score for the TouchDown. Jacksonville climbed 31-28 and would win with the same score.

Lawrence described what was going through his head at that time in an interview with Laura Rutledge of ESPN immediately after the final whistle exploded.

“Only panic. Pure panics on the ground trying … we had no waiting time. I was stomping and I thought: ‘I have to get up.’ And I was going to take it out of the limits to stop the clock and there really was no one around me.

Lawrence was 18, 25 with 221 aerial yards, a touchdown pass and an interception. He also lost a loose ball in the goal line at the beginning of the game.

“We like to do very interesting things,” said the chief coach of the Jaguars, Liam Coen. “But resistance is really what I think this team has.”

Coen called him a “silly finish”, but said it was a “difficult moment” for Lawrence.

“I wasn’t going to lose,” he added.
