Byu’s football player Jake Retzlaff, is no longer a member of the football program. The measure indicates the official start of its process to transfer to another school.
In a social networks publication on Friday, Retzlaff confirmed that he had reached the “difficult decision” to retire and pointed out that “he would move away” from the Coupars football program.
“After many prayers, reflection and conversations with those in whom I trust, I have made the difficult decision to officially retire from Byu and the Byu football program,” Retzlaff published Friday on Instagram.

“Byu has meant more for me than only football. It has been a place of growth, spiritual, mentally and physically. I am grateful for each teammate, coach, staff and fanatic who has supported me on the way.”
Byu field marshal, Jake Retzlaff, denies the accusations of sexual assault of 2023 in the demand response
The decision occurs after a few tumultuous months that included Retzlaff be appointed in a demand for sexual assault. The demand was dismissed later.

The field marshal has a year of remaining eligibility. Since Retzlaff is just shy to graduate, he would probably qualify as a postgraduate student because he competed in his last year of eligibility. It is also unlikely to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Retzlaff could leave byu and enroll in another school.
At the end of June, ESPN reported that the field marshal was intended to play elsewhere in 2025. At that time, Retzlaff had already begun to tell his coaches and teammates from Byu that he was going to leave school.

According to reports, Retzlaff faced a suspension for violating the Code of Honor at the University, which is directed by the Mormon Church, after recognizing a sexual relationship agreed in its defense against demand.
Retzlaff launched for 2,947 yards and 20 touchdowns with 12 interceptions last season, since the Cougars fought for a place in the Big 12 championship game.
Byu coach Kalani Satake avoided commenting on Retzlaff’s situation in Big 12 Media Days earlier this week, saying it was a private matter.
