Malcolm Jenkins, a Super Bowl champion, withdrew the NFL player who was among the Eagles Philadelphia who refused to celebrate his victory in the White House with President Donald Trump in 2018, praised Jalen Hurts for his decision to jump the ceremony.
Hurts decided to give up the celebration of the championship in Washington, so it was determined that they were “programming conflicts.” The silence about the question about attending the ceremony, while at the time of the hour last week he spoke more words than if he said something directly.

Jenkins wrote in a substance article that if Hurts can navigate the scrutiny that can come with the decision, it will rise to more than an NFL player.
“He solidifies himself as a selfless leader, willing to risk comfort to honor his values,” Jenkins wrote. “Strengthens its integrity and cultural capital in a way that few athletes achieve. It shows the next generation how it seems to be in principle, not only play for applause. It joins a tradition of athletes who used their peak to boost the talks forward, do not shy away from them.”
Jenkins made it clear that “leadership is never optional” and omitting the White House will present its own set of problems, from public scrutiny and media to the possible division of costumes.

“The leadership today is not just about leading a team,” Jenkins added. “It’s about carrying a conversation. And Jalen hurts, whether he realizes or not, he only entered that conversation at the highest level.”
The former defensive also touched Saquon Barkley’s decision to spend the day with Trump before the White House celebration.

“It was disappointing, to say the least, but I understand that respect works in both ways,” Jenkins wrote. “Every man has to walk along his own path. But neutrality is not neutrality at times like these. And even silence becomes a statement.”
