
James Cameron recently revealed that he has been in Disney conversations about the expansion of his record Avatar Franchise in the kingdom of animation.
In an interview with Empire MagazineOscar’s winning director said: “Look, I want to make a series of animated anthology that is essentially in the world, but stories you would not have expected of that world.”
He hinted that this expansion could involve not only a series but also a potential animated film.
In addition, Cameron also cited The animatrix As a key inspiration. “That was a great example of how we can add texture and baroque details to the world of Avatar,” he explained.
“Who landed for the first time in Pandora? The first expedition. You could go wherever you want,” Cameron continued, noting that the stories could offer “background history about tangential characters and things that happened outside the camera inside the movies.”
He added that the project is still in its early stages, saying: “We are still gathering our stories and that kind of thing, and I have to find the boutique filmmakers, the animators, who want to do it.”
Cameron’s Avatar Saga, Avatar: fire and ash It will arrive at theaters on December 19.
