Three and a half years have passed since Pacifier He took the world by assault.
The suicide squad The Spin-off series, which saw John Cena repeat his role as the Jingoistic antihero of that 2021 film in the character’s homonymous television program, was a great success. Armed with the usual traps of a James Gunn project, the arrival of the end of season 1 in February 2022 broke the record in time for the audience of a single day of an original HBO Max episode. It is not bad, going to a show starring a Metahuman level C of the DC Comics C list.
But PacifierThe first season had a trick under the sleeve that overlapped its success weeks before the launch of its latest episode: a sequence of title inspired by the dance number. The introduction of 80 seconds of long duration, which saw its complete cast perform a highly polished and choreographed routine routine for Wig Wam Wam ‘do You Wanna Taste It?’, He was surprising since he was lovely. Four billion opinions about Tiktok later, and the writer/director James Gunn, Cena and the company had an unexpected viral sensation in their hands.

With a second season, one set in the restarting DC universe (DCU) supervised by Gunn and his partner co-zo of DC Studios Peter Safran, instead of the now missing universe DC Extended (DCEU), not long after the end of his ancestor, a question dominated the minds of fans. Well, the one that has nothing to do with whether the events of Pacifier Season 1 would be considered canon in season 2 and the broader DCU, anyway: the second year departure of the program would have its own infused introduction of similar dance?
The short answer is: yes. And, with the first episode of Pacifier Season 2, entitled ‘The ties that are shown’ now, the spectators can finally see it throughout their glory.
However, what many fans will not realize and/or potentially underestimated is the amount of time, effort and energy that was dedicated to the most intricate and ambitious opening of this season. And, after three years exhausting to build this sequence, Gunn and the program as a whole are ready to reveal everything.
‘Julian, it’s a hungry world …’
The introduction of last season owed a lot to Gunn’s strange ability, no, superpower, to select the right path for any scene or sequence given in projects that writes, directs and/or produces. A nerd of confessed music, almost every one of Gunn’s works, such as the Galaxy Guardians The film trilogy wrote and directed for Marvel, is full of catchy but underestimated songs that have become part of the cultural Ceitgeist after use in these productions.
The pressure to select the perfect song to establish the dance opening of season 2, then, was certainly on. And, while Gunn tells me the election song of this season: ‘Oh Lord’ of the Glam-Rock Foxy Shazam team, finally established because his lyrics are linked to the themes of season 2, it was not the only option that he Umm-Ed and presented himself.
“I don’t know if any other song approached [to being chosen]”Gunn admits.”[But] There were a couple of others that I considered. There was another song by Foxy Shazam and I also thought about using ‘Do you want to try it?’ again. But, at the end of the day, I chose ‘Oh Lord’ because it was the best for the tone of this season, how do you want to try it? ‘ It was adequate for season 1. “
“You think listening to the same song over and over again for 10 hours in a row, it would age, but never did for me,” says Steve Agee, who plays John Economos, with a smile. “I really like the song, and some of Foxy Shazam’s boys came while we filmed the real, so it was very fun.”
Going again from the top
With its main song blocked, the work soon began in the royal dance that the cast would need to act in the day (or, as you will learn later, days).
A lot of work was dedicated to this year’s opening dance sequence, although you couldn’t know when you see Frank Grillo. #Pacemaker Season 2 Tomorrow! pic.twitter.com/gtdp83tib7August 20, 2025
“Charissa solved it in advance before obtaining James’s approval,” explains Agee. “Then, it meets with us one by one, or in groups of two or three, because there are sections for the dance. Then, we would enter with it to rehearse it, record it and then send the file so that I can practice at home.”
“We had a lot of individual and group essay,” Frank Grillo, who repeats his role as Rick Flag SR of Gunn’s Superman movie and Creatures commands Season 1, adds. “They gave us a lot of homework to do, and I’m glad I had worked at it at home because the idea of being on stage with so many people and being synchronized was something that I did not think I would feel comfortable.”
Pacifier 2Opening credits are certainly more complex than those of their predecessor. In fact, this time more people are involved and, with the dance sequence of the first season so well received, there is an inevitable demand to make it bigger, more bold and better than it has arrived before.
For Jennifer Holland, the gymnast turned into an actor who returns to play Emilia Harcourt, the routine of season 2 provided some particularly difficult movements for her to get it right. In fact, with this season examining Harcourt more and the will of the titular character, will they not? Dirty dance-The inspired.
“There is a piece in which I can go to cables and make this little turn in the air, which was like a bit Cirque du Soleil Moment, “Holland tells me”, but that elevator was the most challenging thing I had to do. I could not rehearse with John because he is very busy, you never know if he can practice with him from one day to another! But, his double trick, Spencer Thomas, was so surprising. He made sure to be prepared, so when I arrived at the set with John, I knew exactly what was expected of me. “
Dancing
That preparation work, “we rehearsed for weeks”, Sol Rodríguez, who plays Sasha Bordeaux, admits, was, as the cast refers, was critical when it came to shooting the real.
Unlike the one -day session last season, the cast and the team received two full days to obtain the new sequence of title in the can. However, even with the extra time they are given, everyone involved faced some kind of challenge.
“We have many more dancers this season,” says Gunn with a smile. “Robert Patrick [who plays Auggie Smith] He was the only one we had the last time, so he shouts Frank, Tim Meadows [who plays Langston Fleury]and Michael Rooker [who portrays Red St. Wild] For giving your best effort! “
“I had to dance in Captain Triunfo’s costume,” reveals David Denman, who plays Keith Smith. “That was a great challenge, but fortunately I didn’t have to do a lot in it, especially with the helmet on.”
“Dancing in a mask is more complicated than you think,” adds Freddie Stroma, who repeats his role as Adrian Chase/Vigilante. “You really can’t see, so most of the time you worry that you stop someone or, if you are about to get the stage where it is really dark, you are trying to find out where the edge is not to fall.
However, he says that “practice does perfection”, and certainly is worth here. Well, unless you are a rite, Gunn says a smile. “See him enough and you’ll see what I mean,” he makes fun.
Rooker’s problems with remaining synchronized with his fellow actors on one side, there are little doubt that the sequence of title of season 2 is as wonderfully entertaining as that of last season, in fact, I said so much in my Pacifier Review of season 2. Although your cast has to use serious looks on your faces as part of the routine, it is clear that everyone also had fun.
“They were my last two days on the set,” explains Stroma. “I couldn’t do it last season either, so I had nothing to compare it. But, it was very fun to drop the accent that I use in the program, relax and have a good time dancing.”
“All filming was amazing,” says Rodríguez. “Having the complete cast and James there, and all these great personalities that they love to laugh, filmed in a great sound scenario and having music flying, I have never experienced something like that.”
“It’s a complete production,” adds Danielle Brooks, who plays Leota Adebayo. “James takes everything very seriously, but we had a great time. I can’t wait to see all our fans learn it.”
