James Gunn teases new DC project after ‘Superman’

In the midst of his work on the second season of Superman and Peacemaker, James Gunn said he is currently “pre-writing” his next DC Studios project.

Although he didn’t reveal details about the project, he said on Threads: “Most of my time is spent in post-production on Superman and Peacemaker, but I also spend quite a bit of time pre-writing my next DC Studios.” project and seeing dailies and offering ideas about the other projects is much less overwhelming than when I was directing.

In addition to this, James is also producing Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Meanwhile, Creature Commandos was marked as the new DC’s first project by co-director James, who wrote and executive produced it.

Previously, the filmmaker revealed the reason for the delay in the release of The Batman sequel.

“The only reason for the delay is that there is no complete script (those who follow me here probably already know this),” he shared on social media.

“Matt is committed to making the best movie possible and it’s anyone’s guess exactly how long it will take to write a script,” the director continued.

“Once there is a finished script, there are about two years left for pre-production, filming and post-production for big films.”

“To be fair, a gap of five years or more is quite common in sequels. 7 years between Alien and Aliens. 14 years among Incredibles. 7 years between the first two Terminators. 13 years between Avatars. 36 years between Top Guns. And, of course, 6 years between Guardians Vol 2 and Vol 3,” James concluded.
