Japanese hi-fi major Audio-Technica has just released a pair of headphones for hardcore audiophiles with a new driver and ultra-precise audio design

  • Audio-Technica ATH-ADX7000 has newly developed 58mm HXDT drivers
  • Aluminum and magnesium alloy honeycomb construction
  • Available from October 31, $3,499 (around £2,600 / AU$5,400)

Audio-Technica has introduced its most advanced open-back headphones to date, the ATH-ADX7000. According to the firm, they offer “a remarkably natural, spacious and comfortable high-end listening experience.”

The new headphones feature the company’s newly developed HXDT driver design, which allows Audio-Technica to manufacture larger drivers (58mm diameter) with precise concentricity for what the company claims is exceptionally clear and detailed music reproduction.

That driver is positioned in its housing with “extreme precision” via Audio-Technica’s Core Mount technology, which places the driver’s voice coil in the middle of the housing to offer very precise positioning, apparently.
