New York giants are not only testing the rookie Jaxson Dart as a field marshal, it is their kind for the rest of the season.
Chief coach Brian Daboll told New York Media on Wednesday morning that Dart, for whom they changed to the first 2025 NFL draft round in April, is his initial quarterback planned instead of Russell Wilson not only for this week against the Los Angeles Chargers, but also for the rest of the season.
Daboll said he has had conversations with both players, who will remain private, but both understood their roles in the future.

“The conversations I have had with these young people will be private. The details will be private. All I can say is that we are going with Jaxson, and we are preparing to play, so I will not add too much,” Daboll said.
“It’s my decision, and we go with Jaxson.”
Giants to start Jaxson Dart in the 4 vs chargers week: report
The giant movement occurs after a bad performance of Wilson in the third consecutive defeat of the team, this time a 22-9 defeat against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City chiefs. While the bad beginning of the giants is not everything in Wilson, Daboll and his coaching staff saw enough in three games, including the 450 yardas performance of Wilson in Dallas, to make Dart move.
The Ole Miss product had backed Wilson, the person who called a 36 -year -old signal, through three games. He worked well during the preseason, enough to win a place ahead of Jameis Winston, another option from Veteran Field Mariscal, in the depth table of the giants.
And Daboll has not moved away from his conviction since April to obtain Dart, since General Manager Joe Schoen reached an agreement to return to the first round to catch him as the possible field marshal of the team of the future.
Daboll was inflexible Wilson remained the head of the team even though Dart was recruited, but his decision to go with the young man is alone.

“It’s my decision,” he said about the Dardo’s movement. “Once again, we have conversations, we have said this on numerous occasions, I have many conversations. That is the direction I wanted to go, and that is the direction we are going to go.”
Nor is it crazy to say that Daboll and the rest of this regime are training for their work at this point, with the owner John Mara making it clear that he needed to see the improvement of an insignificant record of 3-14 in 2024 to have confidence in the future with his team. There was exaggeration around the giants, especially after seeing how well the offensive and defense in the preseason looked.
The regular season tells the true story, and the giants have not seemed an improved team.
Could that come with Dart to the helm? Daboll obviously expected.
“We have had three games, we have not gathered it collectively and we made the decision to play Jaxson,” Daboll said.

The growth pains of the rookies will surely come for the general selection 25, and perhaps quickly considering that the chargers are 3-0 and resemble one of the best teams in the league from the beginning. But, as Daboll said, the rookie field marshals will not know until they try.
“I don’t think any rookie seafood is ready to play,” he said. “You put it there because you think it has done enough to show you that it can come out and compete, and it has done it in every step of the road.”
Dart will not only make his first beginning of the NFL on Sunday, but will also be his first beginning in front of a local crowd of the giants in the Metlife stadium at the 1 PM et.
