Jeff Bezos’ mother, Jackie Bezos, died at the age of 78.
On Thursday, August 14, the heartbreaking news was announced by the Bezos Family FoundationA learning program founded by Jackie and Jeff. Jeff also wrote a tribute in honor of his mother.
The businessman turned to his Instagram account and shared that his mother died “after a long fight with Lewy Body’s dementia.”
“She died today, surrounded by so many of us that we love her: her children, grandchildren and my dad,” he continued.
The 61 -year -old Amazon founder added: “I know she felt our love in those final moments. We were all very lucky to be in her life. I keep her safe in my heart forever.”
According to the website of the Cleveland Clinic“Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) is a decrease in the mental functioning that occurs when protein groups called Lewy bodies accumulate in brain cells. They damage parts of their brain that affect thought, behavior, movement and sleep. LBD worsens over time” and “there is no cure, but medications and therapies can help control symptoms.”
For not versed, Jeff’s mother was diagnosed with the condition in 2020.
Jakie survives his children Jeff and Mark, her daughter Christina, her husband Mike Bezos, 11 grandchildren and a great -grandson.
